Chandni Chowk Built in the 17th century by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and designed by his daughter Jahanara, Chandni Chowk was once a grand boulevard lined with canals reflecting moonlight – hence the name Chandni (moonlight) Chowk (square). Today, it represents the beating heart of Old Delhi, packed with narrow lanes, heritage havelis, temples, mosques, and a unique mix of old-world charm and modern chaos.
Known For: A bustling historic market known for its vibrant street food, traditional Indian goods, textiles, spices, jewelry, and a rich cultural vibe. It is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi.
