About Purana Quila (Old Fort)
Purana Quila, or Old Fort, is one of the oldest forts in Delhi, with origins tracing back to the 16th century under Emperor Humayun and Sher Shah Suri. Built with red sandstone, the fort’s massive walls enclose beautiful gates, a mosque, and remnants of ancient structures. Archaeological excavations suggest the site has been inhabited for over 2,500 years. The fort also hosts a captivating evening sound and light show narrating Delhi’s history.
